Why The Heck Do People Like This Get More Dogs!?

My neighbor has a little chihuahua (I’m pretty sure it’s a “tea cup”, it’s pretty small) and it is absolutely out of control. It barks non stop at EVERYTHING, I’m pretty sure it isn’t even potty trained. It has escaped their yard several times, and I am often the one that has to pick it up out of the middle of the street where it just like to walk around and give it back to them. To my surprise, they got a new little “tea cup” chihuahua puppy a few days ago.
Another person in my neighborhood had two boxers that could jump her fence and often did when I walked past with my dogs. They also barked nonstop and I always heard the lady yelling at them from the back door. She now has THREE more boxers!
I don’t get what these people are thinking, they are incapable of training and providing basic care for dogs, so they get more!

    I see it all the time. One thing I thought of is that they failed with training hte first dog so they get another dog to convince themselves they will do a better job this time. Another thing is that they cant be bothered to interact and play/walk the dog so they get another one to keep it company so they dont feel so bad about neglecting the first one

    I have had similar experiences. If I see a dog loose, it goes to the shelter or I keep it/rehome it myself. No exceptions. I don’t care if it’s my neighbor’s dog, a camper’s dog, whatever. If it’s loose, it’s ‘free game’ to me.

    Yeah! My next door neighbor brings home a new breed of puppy every three months. None of her 6 dogs (so far) are potty trained and once they get out of the puppy stage, they are banished to the back yard where they get no contact except to be fed, and the new puppy is brought home. She has a chihuahua, a shitzhu, a schnauzer, two boxers, and a doberman! and she doesn’t get them spayed (they are all female) and has litters of puppies all the time. I think people like this should be banned from having pets!

    Maybe because:
    -They’re lonely.
    -Feel they need protection.
    -Think their dog needs company.
    -Wants them to have pups.
    *to sell
    *to give away
    *cause’ they’re cute
    -Because they’re just the dog type of people?

    i HATE people like that.
    they drive me batsnot. those boxers should come live in my neighborhood- they rehome nice purebred escapees real fast around here!

    Maggie I think you are being ridiculous. Some dogs are flipping escape artists, I should know, mine gets out on a regular basis and she is perfectly obedience trained. Its just when I am not there to tell her what to do she tends to go for a stroll and it beats the hell out of me how she does it. I asked a question regarding that not long ago.
    Yeah I know what you mean. There this woman with a big americal staff and it is seriously aggressive, I’ve seen it dragging her down the street after another dog and now she has a GS which is just as bad and walks them both together and she cant control them.

    I have a neighbor who keeps their dog in a tiny kennel, even though they have their whole back yard fenced, they never play with it or anything. They get a new puppy every few months. It often dies of parvo right away, yet they keep getting new ones. Makes me sick.

    Someone last night posted a question about a “home remedy” for a pretty serious medical issue for their 2 or 3 year old dog. They said they were quoted $800 from the vet (which IS expensive), and then mentioned “money is tight because we just brought a new puppy home”.
    *slaps forhead* …. you can’t afford to take one dog to the vet, but you bring a puppy home? I mean, an $800 vet emergency would stretch me a bit thin for a month or two … but I wouldn’t be shopping for puppies at the time!
    And yes, I do personally know people that can barely handle their one animal and yet want to bring in more. My mother spur-of-the-moment adopted a 4 month old black lab with little experience training dogs (especially dogs brought to the shelter because the first owner couldn’t deal with the dogs aggression issues). Within 3 weeks of that disaster starting to unfold she was already starting to talk about adopting a kitten. Their lab is very nice, and has learned many commands, but I can’t bring my 10 lbs Papillon over because the Lab is so dominant towards him … lets add a kitten to that mix!

    Because those people are simply stupid! They don´t even see that they have a problem with the dog / the dogs they already own.
    And “yes” there are people like that all over the world.

    oh yea. people across the st have five dogs of various breeds/sizes.
    The smallest ran into my yard to greet Holly. I grabbed my dog to pull her away and the dog lashed out, biting mine at least twice that I could see (it was a chi as well so no damage, bit Holly’s fluff lol).
    The 2nd to smallest dog they have, runs around loose at night barking and growling at everyone. I keep calling AC but I haven’t seen anything done about it yet.
    Their bigger dogs, two of them have starred me down and kept charging forward trying to get me to run so they could chase me. Probably stupid of me, but I charged back and yelled GET THE **** BACK lol they turned tail.
    I’m waiting for it, one of them are going to come after me. It’s just a matter of time. I’m prepared for it though. Sucks because if they’d just leash them or keep them contained there wouldn’t be an issue.

    Yes, yes, yes… My neighbors have a shih tzu and it is the most out of control little demon on the planet. Everyday they tie him up to a post with a giant leash and EVERYDAY is escapes and I see him running in the street and in my yard and i’m like “What the…!” so i have to run outside, pick him up, run to their house, knock on their door and tell them and they’re like “oh! he’s such a trouble maker!” and then tie him back up i’m like “Jesus christ…” it doesn’t end.
    One time when I was walking my puggle, we were walking back and we were in front of their house and their dog breaks off his leash and bolts at me and my dog barking and screaming and stuff. He’s small so i wasn’t scared he would hurt us, but my dog would have killed that little shrimp. He lunged for my dog and my dog was about to lunge for him so i had to get between them and drag him back to neighbor’s house and i’m like “This thing tried to attack my dog!” and they’re like “Oh what? he’s just so protective of us i guess!” but we weren’t even in their yard so i was like wtf….
    and now they’re thinking about getting another one… even my dad was like “Are u sure that’s a good idea…” and they’re like “YEAH! he needs a playmate!”
    so now im afraid i have to look forward to chasing after two dogs running around in the street. i’m sure they’d be good dogs but my neighbors are idiots and so they turn in freaks… poor things. :(
    so, yeah, i don’t know what’s wrong with people like that.

    My neighbors seem to get a new dog every 2-3 months. None of their dogs are trained, only one is allowed in the house because it’s an un-spayed female, and the owners seem to think that spanking is the correct form of correction. They are now up to at least 6 dogs who bark non-stop.

    because they are idiots … i dog sit and this one woman has a very small dog would bring her dog to me occasionally to watch as she traveled for work … one time i already had dogs booked for the weekend so i could not take the little guy … and she left him alone in her apartment with food and water for 4 days !!! i could not believe it … when i found out i told her i would take the dog if she did not want to have to deal with always looking for a place for the dog to stay while she traveled … she said no of course and then she goes out and buys a pekinese … she is never around, the dog doesn’t get trained, and her saving money by just leaving the dogs alone in the apartment, she continued to do this … leave two small dogs alone for 4 days in a one room apartment … she asked me if i wanted the pekinese because she could not train it … but i did not want the ruined pekinese i wanted milo the good one :O) but it is beyond me why she would have got another dog … some people see them more as possessions and not living things with needs … it is sad for the dogs

    People like that are so stupid, and don’t need to have pets. If you can’t control the dog you already own, then why would you want another one? I hate people like that!!
    LEGIT:Yes. The neighborhood i live in has a lot of people like that. The people across the street form me have a Boxer and Siberian husky. They keep both dogs outside 24/7((and neither dog should be out in this heat, but the dog warden sees nothing wrong with it)) Their dogs escape almost every day, and always chase the neighborhood cats.
    And about a week ago they got a chihuahua mix puppy ((who is chained up to a tree in their front yard))
    And the people next door to me have a “pit bull” ((shes an american bulldog/bull-mastiff mix, but they like to tell people shes a pit bull)) and she has got to be one of the most dangerous dogs i’ve ever seen! She is totally unpredictable, very human aggressive, and has already bitten somebody. …so they decide to go out and get a new puppy. They can’t control the dog they currently have, but they are able to control a new puppy?!?
    Their are so many people like this in my neighborhood, thank god i’m moving!! :-)

    I know exactly what you mean.
    I’ve heard of people who just keep getting dogs because the one they had before “didn’t turn out right”.
    “I wanted this dog to be my best friend & it doesn’t want to be around me so I hope this one will be different”.
    Um.
    What?
    I swear they just don’t have half a brain in their heads. They don’t view dog ownership as something serious. They don’t seem to realize they are living, breathing things… it’s like they are extra shoes or purses.

    My aunt and uncle are always bring home new “pure bred” Labs. Right now they have 6 dogs. 3 of the dogs are chained up, never get walked. One is in a small pen and seriously under weight and is very scared of everything. The other two are kept inside. They have a dachshund and chi mix. They lock her up in a little cage every time she comes into heat. The non fixed female they leave chained up. Her collar was so tight once she couldn’t breathe. She was trying so hard to breathe, she couldn’t stop panting. They thought it was just because she was thirsty. My other cousin goes to their house when they’re not home and loosens the dog’s collar. Their dogs have little shade, they’re all black, and they don’t get much water. and they aren’t fed much. They don’t train their dogs either. Yet they still bring home more dogs. Its a really sad sight. I feel so bad for these dogs. They get very little attention.
    My other cousin has a bunch of cats, and two over weight dogs, who don’t ever get more than 10 minutes of exercise, whenever my cousin feels like walking one of the dogs. The other dog never gets out of the pen they have them in. And whats worse is my cousin took a 5 week old puppy from the mama dog for no reason. The mama is a stray that showed up that my grandparents took in. The puppies had just started getting weaned. My cousin thinks that just feeding a dog is taking care of it. She doesn’t realize that dogs need much more than that. If she walks “Jazzi” that dog will pull on the leash and try to run away. She doesn’t have any of her shots. Its a sad sight as well.

    My question would be – why do you give the dogs back when you find them out wandering?
    I would take and turn them in to the local shelter.
    If they claim the dog, they will be fined, and I can guarantee that will get their attention.
    If they dont claim the dog, then it will hopefully find a better home.
    (Yes, I have idiot neighbors like this. Fortunately, they are now down to three dogs from five, and two of the dogs stay home.
