Mariah Carey is being sued by her vet after failing to pay a five-figure bill for nursing back to health her Jack Russell puppy.
The vet and her staff slept with the dangerously ill newborn as they provided 24-hour care during the two-and-a-half week assignment, even making videos of the dog’s recovery to send to the singer.
But multi-millionaire Mariah only paid $8,231 of the $37,790 bill, according to a suit filed by vet Condy Bressler at Manhattan’s Supreme Court.
According to the New York Post Dr Bressler was called in to help when Mariah’s dog Cha Cha, only six months old herself, gave birth to her first puppy.
Newborn Dolomite needed intensive care following the birth, and Dr Bressler left her New York practise to move into Mariah’s mansion.
A source told the Post: ‘We were up all night caring for and tube-feeding the puppy. Mariah loves her dogs and requested the best care and that’s what she got.’
Following the birth animal lover Mariah had tweeted: ‘ChaCha just had her baby! Its a girl! Anybody want a beautiful Jack Russell puppy?!’
But despite her initial interest, according to court papers, Mariah only paid a fraction of the final bill.
‘She [Bressler] is a doctor and Mariah acted like Dr Bressler was one of her hair or makeup people,’ said the source.
Dr Bressler did not comment, but her attorney said she ‘provided life-saving, round-the clock medical care.’
‘The costs were clearly communicated costs associated with this level of treatment,’ he added.
Mariah’s attorney said she intended to fight the lawsuit, which he described as a ‘crass publicity stunt’

    Wow. So now Mariah Carey’s lost her voice, is a slut, a backyard breeder, AND doesn’t pay her dues? If I was the vet, I’d have said, “F*** you, pay me!” Lol! They are probably trying to rip her off for her money, but what does she expect? Of course, doesn’t make it right though. I hope she at least learned her lesson and got the dog spayed, Lol

    Good grief, she allowed a 6 month old puppy to get pregnant? That is simply shocking. I hope they sue her. She obviously had no intention of staying up all day and all night tube feeding and cleaning it !

    I wonder if she would work for such a small sum 24×7 for almost 3 weeks???

    Of course she should pay it. This vet LEFT her regular practice, moved into the mansion to give 24 hour car to the little dog for two weeks. The price seems very reasonable. I would never pay that much, but she chose to, so she should pay. There is no telling how many medicines had to be used to make sure the puppy survived.

    Well I don’t know exactly what they did and I don’t know the cost of it, but if she ordered the best and they gave her the best then she should pay for what she ordered. It’s kind of like when you’re at a restaurant, and you buy the best they have to offer, you better be willing to pay for the best.

    Well, I don’t know much, but I think that Mariah is not an animal lover.
    She bred her 6 month old dog…which is a puppy in itself.
    Aside from that, I don’t know much about veterinary bills, but from what I do know and the area, I think that this bill may be justified.
    C-Sections aren’t cheap, and neither is caring for two very sick puppies(which is essentially what the mother is).

    I read that and she deserves to be sued, she acts like people owe her and she continues to breed her stupid dogs so yes, if she’s stupid enough to breed and not know what she’s doing then she needs to pay the professionals that work around the clock provding a months worth of veterinary care because she insists on breeding.
    She’s an idiot, I hope they win.

    Mariah’s an idiot. If she had even one brain cell in her oversized head, she would have gotten her poor dog spayed before it could breed. This is entirely her fault, and she should have to pay every cent of the vet bills. I wish people would see that this is just like a dimbo BYB breeding their dog when it should have been fixed. It doesn’t matter whether or not she’s a celebrity, the vets are in the right, and she needs to be sued.

    Wow…even celebrities are getting in on the BYB kick. Awesome…6 mo old puppy, having a puppy. This confirms my view of her intelligence…or lack thereof.
    A $37,790 bill seems a bit…extortionate, but who knows what they actually did. If she actually left her practice to be with this dog and provide 24/7 care…then I’m not sure. Crazy.

    She should pay. She was stupid enough to let a 6 month old puppy get pregnant, and now she doesn’t want to deal with the consequences of her actions. Because of her irresponsible behavior, a veterinarian left her practice to give the puppy 24-hour care for two weeks straight. $37k sounds reasonable. I hope they take her dogs away from her when this is over.

    DD covered everything in their answer.
    The words I would use to describe this woman would definitely be against TOS, so I will use DD’s words.
    As for the bill. My friends dog had bloat surgery and was in the hospital for two days.
    Her bill was $7500, her other dog was in for SIX HOURS before being PTS and that bill was $4,500, so a two week stay for 24/7 care at 33K does not seem out of line to me at all.
    People have to realize in places like New York, Los Angeles, that vet bills generally run a lot more then in rural areas.
    I live in the Los Angeles area.

    WOW..I never liked her as a singer or her personally but now after reading that she let her 6mo old puppy get pregnant is unspeakable..You have so many stars speaking up against Puppy Mills and BYB and here she comes and becomes one herself..B*tch

    Does not matter what the animal is worth, matters what the time, meds and equipment were worth.
    She should pay. She should also be ashamed for letting a dog that young get pregnant!

    That puppy was only a baby itself. And only one puppy? That’s healthy. Not. From her Tweet, it sounds like she considers this dog to be a person, “having her new baby”? She’s an idiot. I feel so bad for dogs that have to live like this.

    Yea, I’ll bet that the vet LOST around $20,000 in lost revenue, having to pay her staff, having to pay for a building, etc. that wasn’t open, having to pay for overtime for her staff, loss of goodwill from other clients, lawyer fees, etc. just by taking on this case. There is NO WAY $8,231 covers the cost of caring for these animals 24 hours a day for 2 and 1/2 weeks. I think that part of the reason this was so expensive was because Carry didn’t choose to do what a normal person would have chosen to do– take the dog to the ER clinic and have it checked in overnight (for probably about a week, then they would send the dog home and expect the owner to give it its meds). If she had done that then the whole bill would still probably total closer to $8,000.

    I don’t blame them! I would do the same thing to somebody with that kind of money – you would hope that you are at least teaching them the grave mistake they made with an innocent animal’s life.
    Just because you’re rich doesn’t mean you get to be ignorant.

    YES – she should pay EVERY cent she owes. And if she really loved her dogs, she would have had them spayed! She is very very lucky the dog survived pregnancy and the c-section at 6 months old! That means the dog was bred at 4 MONTHS OLD! Very very irresponsible and she “promotes” this kind of action!
    And in the picture – that’s NOT a JRT!

    Mariah Carey’s actions in this matter are a cluster#v<& of FAIL.
    FAIL. FAIL. FAIL.
    That said – what this boils down to is whether or not the Doctor can justify her bill.
    If the Doctor herself moved into Careys home, forgoing the rest of her practice, for two weeks – I could see the bill legitimately getting way up there.
    Ultimately I don’t think any of us can pass judgement on the $38K tab with any degree of credibility unless we can see the itemized bill … which is probably a good 10+ pages long.
