Puppy Holding It In Until We Go Inside To Pee.?

i have a 12 week old rottweiler. he has learned loads of tricks in the space of a few days, but im having alot of trouble house training him. i take him outside after sleeping, eating, playing and every 2 hours or so inbetween, but he will not go potty outside. he holds on untill we go back inside to pee. Even catching him mid-pee, i take him out using the cue “outside!” but he still holds on, then the second he steps inside, he carries on peeing. Its only day 2 of housetraining him, and i know it can take a while, i just need some help to break this habit!

    It can take weeks or months to housebreak a puppy, so be patient.
    When you bring him out, wait out there for as long as it takes. He should be on a leash so that he can’t frolic and play. When he finally goes (because he’ll have to relieve himself eventually; he isn’t physically capable of “holding it” for very long), reward him very enthusiastically and emphatically. Praise him like crazy, pet him, play with him, give him tons of tiny, delicious treats (chicken, hot dog, cheese, liver — don’t be stingy), and let him off the leash to run around to his heart’s content. With consistency, he’ll learn that he gets absolutely nothing until he relieves himself, and that everything good happens when he finally eliminates. You should also say a certain phrase when he goes, like “go potty” or “do your business,” so that he learns to go on cue. Make sure that you do not rush him indoors (unless he truly wants to go inside) right after he relieves himself, as that will teach him to “hold it” like he’s currently doing. (He’ll learn that relieving himself equals going inside, and if he doesn’t want to go in, then he’ll “hold it.” Then when you bring him indoors, he’ll still be full of pee and will relieve himself inside.)

    You should keep outside for a very long time until he does pee and then use treats and tell him how good he is.

    I’m sorry to say, but you just have to keep doing what you are doing! Another good idea: Clean up the pee with a “potty pad,” therefore he knows that if he does decide to go inside, he needs to go on the potty pad. Once he gets that down, start taking the potty pad outside with you, put it on the grass and say “good boy!”
    Never use negative words toward a puppy, it only confuses them. Only say nice things to them when they are doing the right thing.

    You need a crate/cage for him. Then take him out ONLY to feed and walk him then back in the cage. He will do his business, you praise him to hgigh heaven and back in the cage until he gets it.
