I Need Help With A Dog Situation?

I have an eleven year old lab who is not doing so good. I also have a five year old shih tzu who is perfectly fine. My dad’s boss wants to give us his female lab for nothing, and it is poddy trained and already spayed. I have two sugar gliders that i am selling and am looking to get my own dog instead, This lady who is selling a eskimo and akita mix said she would be willing to trade the pup for the two suggies. That sounds great right…wrong we don’t have our fence completely up yet, and the ccnr’s (however you spell that) say we can only have three dogs. The lab is going to be my dads if we get it, and the other pup will be mine and my sisters, an oppertunity might not be able to happen like this for puppies like this again… What should i do :( ????

i will take care of the pup i am getting myself… i already feed our other dogs

i trust my lab and she is happy we take good care of her and she is good around other dogs and is a way good mother, she is one of the best labs ever and i would not be worried about her getting stressed, i know she is very happy :) I guess i just want to take on the responsibility of having my own dog and being able to call it mine and being able to train it and teach it and spend the time with it that i need to.

    It sounds to me, Chelsea, like you’d be better off keeping your not-too-well-but-happy
    lab, than you would be trying to get yourself, your sisters and the rest of your family
    adjusted to an entirely different dog.
    Your lab is probably happy mainly because she knows you love her! Dogs, I’ve
    discovered, are a lot like kids in a way: regardless of how healthy they are (or are
    not), if you treat them well, they’ll show you the same sort of affection.
    One of my two dogs, who died last Thanksgiving, was always very fat; and Vinny
    was also suffering, for the majority of his 10 years, from a stomach tumor.
    But he was a lot of fun to be around, because he had a lot of personality. And, of
    course, because he was always very happy!
    I hope that helps your decision some.
