    Ok so here are the basics you’ll need:
    Water bowl
    Food bowl
    Food
    Collar
    Bed (depending on where your gonna have it sleep)
    Pen or pet carrier ( Works to train puppies very well)
    Dog toys or stuffed animals
    Potty Pads (even if you take your puppy outside its good to have a back up because they have small bladders.)
    Brush, that way no unexpected items get caught. Makes for a messy clean up
    Pet shampoo and conditioner.
    Nail clippers, if it’s a small dog you want to get baby ones.
    Teeth stuff. Whether it be little snack strip you want something to prevent decay or plague. YOu could use a normal tooth brush and get one of those meaty toothpastes and brush away. ( Make sure to mark the dog tooth brush, believe me you don’t want that in your mouth.
    Optional:
    Baby gates. This helps them to not go up or down stairs big stairs with tiny puppies don’t mix well.
    Getting a puppy book for training.
    Also getting a book on the specific type of dog your going to get. It helps tell you what to expect. What you should watch for and do for your type of dog.
    I would puppy proof your home before hand. They eat everything EVERYTHING! Get on you stomach and see what they would like to chew on or eat. Keep hazardous things up high.
    Make sure it gets the the go ahead from the vet. DOn’t forget shots either. Lots of love and fun.
    Puppies are fun except when they poop!

    Supplies:
    Crate (big enough for dog to sit/stand/turn/lay)
    Plain Buckle Collar
    Six Foot Nylon or Leather Leash
    Food Bowl
    Water Bowl
    Carpet Cleaner
    Towels (or a cut up blanket – for the crate until he’s potty trained)
    ID Tag
    License
    Brush
    Nail Clippers
    Toys
    You will also need a vet check anywhere from 24-48 hours after you get the pup. The pup may need shots right off. Eventually you will need a rabies tag.
    I would avoid training aids (harnesses, chain collars, etc). I would avoid retractable leashes (dangerous with untrained animals). I would avoid potty pads (utterly useless). Look into training classes.
    This puppy will need potty trained (taken out every hour or so for a while, slowly increasing). It will need to be taught manners (no jumping, barking, etc). It will need some basic obedience training. Pekingese dogs need daily grooming and frequent trips to a groomer for professional clipping.
